Sorrentino's

Picture taken by Jessica Som
Hello everyone! I took this picture at night freezing to death! This past Sunday (12/21/14) is the first official day of winter and the winter solstice. It was cool EXCEPT I was stuck wrapping gifts like a madman. I feel bad for Santa's elves. Share the cookies Santa.

That aside, here is the next spot light location. This place may be small and blend's in with it's surrounding, but what lies inside is something else. When I first read the name when they first started out-I loved it because I never heard of a fun name before. Where does it come from? Well, it's a family name for starters. If I remember correctly, the family named it after their grandfather.

This is the man of the hour every hour and the person who cooks your food. His name is John. HI JOHN-LOOK AT YOUR PICTURE! Does anyone love his shirt because I do. I would wear that. I mean it makes sense anyway. John here works here everyday. He makes all kinds of desserts. I like his fresh cookies-it is warm and chewy. There is normally snacks like chips and soda there along with a few shelves of box and can goods. It reminds me of a little grocery store with a shop. There is plenty of room to walk around in and the color scheme of the place is quite home like. They open from 8:00 o'clock in the morning to 6:00 o'clock at night. The sell breakfast, lunch, and things I would consider as dinner. They have all kinds of subs and sandwiches as well as platters. During holidays one can sign up for special event platters and desserts. The fun part is that there is raffles to go along. Plus there are seats to eat at if one wishes to. Their subs are huge and I tend to share mine- perfect servings for around 5$ along with other hot Italian food items.

To me, my favorite part of going there would have to be the stories. When I walk in to chat around or get something new, I would hear customers talk about the news or tell stories of the olden days. Through these many people I have learned more history of other countries and East Boston. People of different backgrounds will be happy to share their story if you ask them to. Also Thank you everyone who were willing to let me take a picture of them. On another note, around areas like the one in the picture-there will be art work. It is really cute in my opinion. Food wise- all food is equally as good, so it is a balance place. Man, it would be tough picking a favorite. Although I like sweets. Winner -sweets. Well, thank you all for reading and I wish you a HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

Mandarin Buffet

Hello and  welcome back everyone! Here we are again with yet another post with even more pictures. YAY FOR PICTURES! Today's spotlight pick is on Mandarin Buffet in Chelsea. I took these pictures on this raining day. This is an all you can eat buffet. It is worth the long walk and cold terrain. The prices are fine by my watch because if you go there before three o'clock, then each person would have to pay 9$. However, if you go there after three o'clock, then it will be 13$ per person. It is a decent price will reasonable amount of food to eat.

The people who work here were very kind to us. The waitresses and waiters are dressed in black with pink and white ties. The guy in blue is in charge of the place. For some people it may be hard to understand at first for some people due their heavy accent. I saw some reviews on how people where rude to the staff because of this reason, so for those of you who go-always be respectful. For the buffet part. There is an all you can eat sushi and sashimi  freshly made. The chef is quite though. There is a dessert and meal/appetizer table. It is a combination of seafood and American food as well as Asian food. For drinks, one can get the same drinks as you can get in Chinatown but it will cost you extra which isn't that bad. Some of the drinks are really sweet but it is okay by me. Also, depending on the day and time that you go to the place, some of the food items change. This is a nice set up for those of you who want variety and something new to snack one. Some foods includes: noodles, fried rice, soups, fries, chicken fingers, crab rangoon, fried rice, fish (depending), King crab legs, stir fry, clams, muscles, veggies, fruit, all kinds of cakes, and all kinds of ice cream.

This is a picture of my friends and I eating here after our Spirit Day event before Thanksgiving. This picture was taken by one of the waitresses - she was so nice. We had lots of fun just chowing down and talking to one another. It is hard to just hang out due to our busy lives. However, we did enjoyed the food to the point that we were all stuffed. Plus, after eating we all walked around in the stores instead of finding a couch to sleep on. It was a wonderful day that I have spent with them all and I am happy to be sharing these moments with them. Well, that is all for today. See you all next time!

Pizza Shuttle

Photo taken by Jessica Som
Hello everyone! I hope that your day, evening, and/or night is going well. If not then there is always tomorrow. Today we will be exploring more of East Boston. I promise I will travel around but one area at a time. Plus I literally walk to my destinations than car. Sometimes train, but not really. However, back to today's topic! Today I am exploring one of the best places that I know to have the best fries. This place is Pizza Shuttle (I like the logo too). This place has been around for a very long time and is still going strong today. It has a simple vibe once you go into the place.

As you can see from the picture of the area, it is a small-ish place. It is located at the base of a hill so it will get very cold as it did on that day. Although the times are different than most places, it is a convenient place to wait for the bus. The bus stop is literally in front of the  place. Its a nice spot for business. Nice job on it owners! Oh and the guy in these pictures is my friend. He was nice enough to tag along with me and grab a bite to eat. Thank you! Back to the scoop. I would recommend getting the fries or a combo with the fries for $6.75.

For the fries-it is worth the $3. You get a lot of them and when you bite into them you will get hit with the crunch of chips as the inside taste like mash potatoes. The pizza is alright and they have subs and all kinds of food. If you ask me I would recommend the side orders. They do sell pizza by the slice but for that you would need to ask them. They also open only in the afternoon. I am sorry owners for taking pictures, but you are not in it, so is that okay still? The guy got very upset when I asked for a picture of him-he could of said no politely. But I would like for anyone and everyone to check this place out next time when they are waiting for the bus or on a cold day. I will see you all next time. BYE!

A&L Italian BAKERY

Pictures taken by Jessica Som
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog! How are you? Hope your day is going well. Today I am looking into one of my favorite little bakeries. This place is wonderful!Everything is very cheap! Cheap as in if you have 5$, you can get practically anything you want. The prices range from 5 cents to max 10.85$. With that range of money-you are able to get a lot of stuff! Love this place so much! Many of the items are homemade and SUPPER YUMMY! Everyone should come on down and grab a bite.

This person here is a wonderful friend of mine and the owner of the store. She is very sweet and kind, so pay respect to her. She works very hard and tries her best everyday. It is fun to talk to her every time I go there. I help her out whenever I am there! The place was established since 1978. She does retail and wholesale. She supplies delis, restaurants, convenient stores and more. If you are interest in ordering or more you can call her at (617-569-7597). That is the store number but call early since the store closes around 4pm (if I am correct, the time varies) Well that is all for today, hope to see everyone again soon. BYE!

Boston Brewin Coffee Co.

Picture taken by Jessica Som
Hello everyone! Today's post will be about the Boston Brewin Coffee Co. Yes, they have many locations around Boston, but I am talking about the one in East Boston. Here they sell all kinds of homemade brunch, snacks, pastries, salads, and organic coffees. When talking about prices, the prices here are really reasonable and worth the price. It is located, along with 16 other small business places, at the Maverick Street Market Place. The place has 24 indoor and 20 outdoor seating places. If you ask me, I like the pastries the best because its fresh, organic (compare to other stores), and homemade. You can't beat homemade.

However, as a customer, it is worth the experience. The staff and the baristas are very friendly people who are playful. Every time I go there I feel like I am part of a family. They tell many interesting stories about themselves and their experiences which are fun to listen to as I eat. The way they advertise is screaming a welcoming greeting outside for the world to hear. I just hope that they are very warm when they are outside doing that.
